Asia is the biggest and the most populous continent of the world with an area of 44.5 million kilometre square and over 4.5 billion people. With this huge population, Asia is responsible for nearly 60% of the world population. The largest country in this continent is Russia and the smallest one being the Maldives.
From the north, Asia is surrounded by the Arctic Ocean, the Indian Ocean supports it from the south, and from the east by the Pacific Ocean. Asia is the continent which holds both the highest and the lowest parts of the earth. Mount Everest and Mariana Trench is the highest and lowest part respectively.
The diversity of Asia is what makes this continent extremely well populated. With countries like China, India, and Japan, Asia is extremely rich in its culture. There are over 2000 spoken languages in Asia and several religions including Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. Sikhism and Jainism are mainly practiced in India only whereas Buddhism in the religion which is practiced by the majority of the Asian population.
Moving on Asian climate, then it has great diversity in climate as well. The southern countries in Asia witness hot, cold, and rainy weathers. On the other hand, western parts of Asia can see high temperatures. Siberia is one of the coldest places in Asia. There are tropical regions in Asia including the Arabian Desert.
Being the largest continent, Asia is the largest economy by continent. Not only that, but the economic growth of this continent is by far the fastest among any other region. Countries like China, India, Japan, Turkey, and Russia play a significant role in increasing the continent’s economy.
Asia has been the homeland to some great personalities including Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Yasunari Kawabata, Mother Teresa, Malala Yousafzai, and Aung San Suu Kyi. They all were born in different parts of Asia and become great personalities who contributed to making the world a better place to live.
