The Union Council of Ministers exercises executive authority in the Republic of India. It consists of senior ministers, called Cabinet Ministers, and junior ministers, called Ministers of State. It is led by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is appointed by the President. All other ministers are appointed by the President upon the advice of the Prime Minister.
The current ministry is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shri Narendra Modi has taken oath as the 16th Prime Minister of India on May 30, 2019 with President Ram Nath Kovind. Along with Modi Ji there are other ministers were also sworn as Cabinet Ministers, Minister of State (independent charges) and Minister of State has also taken the oath of office and secrecy. The ceremony was noted by media for being the first ever swearing-in of an Indian Prime Minister to have been attended by the heads of all BIMSTEC countries.

The Union Cabinet is a smaller executive body is the supreme decision-making body in India. In accordance with Article 75, only the ministers of the rank of cabinet minister and the prime minister are members of the Union Cabinet.
